Description :
The Allen and Heath Xone3D is a ground breaking mixer which will no doubt be the way forward in DJ technology.
The central part of the Xone:3D is a typical high quality Allen and Heath mixer (based on the xone:92) with 4 channels, 3 band EQ, separate LEDS and 2 assignable filters.
The key feaure of the xone:3D is the selection of faders, knobs and large jogwheels found on either side of the mixer section. These are fully assignable controls for software packages such as Abbleton Live and Native Instruments Traktor.
Audio from these packages will come back in through the USB connector and can be assigned to main channles on the mixer just like any other source.
The USB soundcard has 8 channels which can operate in two modes - 6 channels from PC and 2 returns or 4 channels from a PC with 4 returns. Also the USB connection sends and receives both audio and MIDI data to and from the PC, and can used to update the firmware and set mixer configuration data.
The xone 3D's MIDI control section features a total of 8 faders, 16 rotary controls, 10 encoders and 50 switches as well as 2 jog wheels. This combination of controls means the xone:3D can send a total of 105 different MIDI messages from the control section, channel faders and crossfader to the MIDI out socket and USB interface to the PC.
The built in BPM counter can sync the MIDI clock to the main mix output, you can tweak it using the 'push pull' control or even connect a footswitch or analogue joystick to control the MIDI signal!
